  • Thinking about a custom shop, have a question

Which do you like best here? this would be a bolt on Dinky body, the fast neck shape, oiled neck. Body made of MAH with a maple cap. Any problems with this set up? Pretty staright forward, not sure on the color yet. I am just starting to hash things out.

This is just my first mock up. I am looking for a wide flat fret board to do some fast runs on. Standard 2 tone one volume knob. I like the tone knobs unlike most players these days.

I really dig the guitar on the left! Love the H-S setup & the reverse headstock gives it just a little bit of aggro to offset the pretty green maple top & maple h/s cap. Go for it, dude!

Not sure about the MOP inlays on maple, but hell, it's your dream!

i like the 3x3 head. it looks killer in the playing position....plus it is unique and different. that guitar is laid out VERY similar to a custom order i am planning!!! great minds think alike. but i am going for 2 volumes and a tone, and a 3 way blade.
          GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

          and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I like both, but I prefer the SLS headstock on the right.

              What 3x3? I see a 4x2!

BTW I hate that HS, so I pick the rev head on the left.

The question is, what do you like? Do you want a guitar that others will like, or do you want something unique?

Well, I am not a hundred percent sure of some of the options I am looking at. I like both headstocks. The 4x2 gives it a more modern look, but that reverse is bitchin looking too. I love MOP on maple, my strats have MOP dots and they look kickass, so I thought the sharkies would look nice like that as well. The color is something i will be thinking of. I want a maple neck for the brightness, so i want a finish that will work with that. Maybe a red quilt will be cool as an option. That's all just visual though.

I am looking for a 2 pup guitar that I will use for more modern melodic/progressive metal style playing. So big fat chording and fast runs make me think Iwant a wide, flat fretboard. The floyd is a done deal as well since that is something I will be doing with this guitar as well. The control layout is like my strat at the moment and I was thinking that a 3 way toggle is nicer to me than the blade, a throwback to my gibsons. I also want the guitar to play well while seated. That's important.

The thing is, I have only ever played a 650xl Charvie, so I wanted to know your guys' thoughts on how a modern metal axe should be set up. I have far less experience with this style of guitar. I decided with the charvel, that I prefered a bolt on for this style of playing for the unfinished neck.

So give me some ideas here. I wont be ordering this tommorow. I want to take some time and explore my options and all the possibilities.

Looks wise I do like red with a matching headstock. Again, I do like both headstocks.

I kept the pics small, so it's hard to see the flame in the red and the fact that it's gold hardware. The 4x2 headstock also has block inlays.

He'll also have to check to see if the Custom Shop will do 4+2. There was a problem with another company some years back because the AT1 and AT2 models had the 4+2 and Jackson had to change to 3+3. Not sure if it's the case with a one-off custom or not, though.

You, sir, sound like you want to buy a Rhythmist!
Not to be uninformed, but what is a Rythmist?

BTW, a 3x3 is as cool to me as a 4x2.
