A little bit of polish to the body and the fingerboard and this thing rips heavily!!! Sweet Sweet axe!
I'm going to praise one thing about the kahler bridgeSanctuary ALWAYS SAID THIS!!(Oh, I need a bar btw! LOL) TUNING! You can drop the low e to a "D" in a microsecond, tune up to A440 or back to 440b in a microsecond without fussing or curse words! Kahlers have always been easy tuners.
It was a little grimy out of the gig bag, but it's now CLEAN and ready to shred! The board could probably use a little DEEP CLEAN...we'll get to that. I am THRILLED to have it!! Here are some pics.
It was fully dissected tonight. Removed the neck, steel wool'd the neck(still some ground in whatever, but that's ok) with 0000 grade. I LOVE how it feels now! frets we're polished and it was topped with a fresh set of ernie ball .009's. It appears to be an '86 model(that is what year is stamped in the neck pocket). I'd have taken pics, but my camera didn't focus well as maybe there wasn't enough light.
This was the EASIEST set-up I'd ever done. Strings went right on, everything was intonated except the g and d strings. A half turn of the screwdriver and everything is on the money.
I LOVE this guitar! It's more than likely because I'd had something similar before. I love the others no less, but this one has a special place for sure.
The guitar had some weird tuning problems with the kahler. It'd sharpen or flatten the tune if you even LOOKED at the bar. It was beyond weird.
BLUE was treated to a fret level/crown/polish/neck shim and a new JB zebra pup with larger wire for some more grunt. The original pup is in the box and safely stored so it can return to 100% the way it was if needed.
What a difference it made! It's like a different guitar. Not sure what the tech did to the kahler, but you can slam the bar endlessly with dive bombs and it comes right back in to tune. Nice action too! It's a super player.
has a bit of an attitude with the zebra. I think one of our overseas members has one similar to this, but His is a single hum.
