That`s a beautiful ax bro. I`m not personally a big fan of gold hardware, but that is a very beautiful guitar.

I would so love to have one done the same way except without the spruce top. Just the koa body and 7 piece neck through with an arched top, black hardware and dual EMG hummers.

Definitaly a stand out piece of guitar workmanship. You should wail on that one with pride.

I bet it will sound incredible unplugged or at the very least run straight through a clean channel on your amp with no effects or distortion. An incredible find my friend!

That is very dark Koa, you sure its not walnut? Not that koa can't be that dark, it definitely can but usually koa tends to be lighter.

Chris, the Spruce is indeed highly figured, so it may be bearclaw. And it is Koa too since that's what it was advertised as. I think this one sat in the store for months because a) most regular people looking at Jacksons are not big on the woods b) it didn't have a trem c) and after three big markdowns it still cost a couple Benjamins more than the USA selects.

I simply never see many hardtails in the stores.

I've never seen a flat, gold pup ring slammed on top of the normal black pup ring, like this one! Is that "normal"? Looks good though.
                yeah, that's not too uncommon.

                    Aw, snap!

That is one classy axe! In addition to the stunning wood and workmanship, I love the Sperzel locking tuners! Gorgeous.

How does she play and sound?

I'll report back tomorrow when I get her back from the tech. She arrived unplayable. The neck was great though, but I couldn't pick a note. Strings were resting right on the frets.

I'm surprised at that - I've received a couple of guitars from that store and their setups were impecible....

I'll have to make a note of that. That's how it was sent. I talked to the salesman just yesterday about it. In the future, I'll make sure to make a request.

It could be that your Mahogany was setup well at the Custom Shop. As I said, this Koa/Spruce was hanging out at the store for 6 months, so who knows what climate changes it went through.
