That is a gorgeous axe! Reminds me of my IMPORT soloist in pearl white.

Nice score! Enjoy it(it'll be difficult not to!)

Just nabbed Soloist J0762 (completed June 17, 1985) and picked it up today. I was worried that I paid too much, but wow, she's in beautiful shape and almost makes *me* feel 21 again.

Well I am glad that it was someone Kewl that beat me on this one (which I had been bidding on all week; I did not expect to loose out- oh well). Yeah, the seller was really kewl to me in answering a few questions - it has a missing truss rod cover - and I had already located an exact replacement.

CongradZ D00d! If you have second thoughts about it - I'll buy it!

Agreed, I think the seller might have thought that you stated "over the frets" to make him understand what binding is

Sorry about that, man. I wondered if there was some JCF involvement on this listing. I'm kind of surprised that the seller isn't a JCFer, since he has another Soloist and a Model 6, and had previously sold another Model 6 on eBay awhile back (which I had even asked him a question on and forgotten about it).

If this one hadn't been local to me, I might have let it go, but I've been outbid on a couple of other Dimas Soloists in the last several months, and I've been jonesing for one pretty hard. Several dual-humbucker ones have been auctioned off lately, and I was bummed because I didn't have the cash.

I'm actually a bit surprised that this one didn't get more action, since you don't see that many white ones come up on eBay. We were the only two bidders. If it had had a Floyd, I suspect it would have fetched at least $1500.

BTW, the truss rod covers on San Dimases are very inconsistent. Some have the small notched one that only screws in at the top, while others have the regular three-screw version that actually requires removal of the string-lock in order to remove for truss-rod adjustment. This one appears to have had the notched version, since there are two 'washers' below the string lock to raise it up to the correct height. The inconsistencies are part of what make Dimases enjoyable. You can never be quite sure what you're going to get. I think they just used whatever parts they had on hand for stuff like that and made up the rules as they went along.

Glad you won it! Thanks for the info on the truss rod covers; I ASSumed they were all the same in this era. Anyway, glad you like it!
