Wow, april 2005 to september 2006! That is a crazy long wait. I think I am too impatient to wait that long for a custom. By the time I got it I'd be wanting something entirely different!

Absolutely a jaw dropper! Don't inlay the neck, it looks sinister without inlays. How heavy would you say the guitar is itself?
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

You didn't know? The studs in The Halford aren't glued on - they're mounted into the wood itself by the little tangs. Glue wouldn't hold them on because they're hollow

As for the weight of the War Angel, about as much as a DK-2 - maybe less considering there's no extra weight from a neck pickup and those pesky knobs

Awesome axe, but you have no idea how annoying it was to read through those first 2 pages
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

Skip the inlays, Doctor. I've owned four guitars without inlays, and got to play three more at the MN jam session. Blank boards are awesome on the right guitar, and make it that much more unique.

Besides, what inlays could possibly measure up to a Newc custom body?

Hmmp. Was going back through the pics, and just realized that it has an Ontario plate. Weird that they're still using them, as my PC1 came with a new/different style. Maybe they're still using them on customs only? Just an interesting tidbit for us screw-counters.

Matt, I am glad you finally got that guitar and it is everything you hoped for (minus the pickup ). Congrats bro, and good luck with it.

Agreed, I also like inlayless fretboards much so I would leave that thing as it is. Congrats btw

                        Killer.

You designed the hooky-warrior body yourself? Nice work - very slick. The guitar is gorgeos, man.

I would stick with the one-humbucker scheme. A big part of that guitars beauty is its simplicity.

Yup, I designed it with the JCF Custom Generators, and could not have designed it without them. At best I could have done some slopart photochopped crap with uneven joints and a 13 page descripton to go along with it, but the Generators helped me by providing the most important design elements - clear, head-on pictures.
I even tried it with pics I took of the Death Angel at NAMM and my own pics of my Warriors and those were all head on shots, but the Generators made it soooo much easier, and the results were a lot closer to the real thing.

As for what inlays I might do - Iommi Crosses would be nice, if I can get them in a gold-ish color. I have some thin brass shim stock that could be cut into the shapes, but it's thin so I don't know how well they'd work. Shallow routes and epoxy? Cut them with tangs to sink into the board? Not something I'd try myself with this

Newc, it amazes me that a guitar this beautiful and classy has its origins in the same mind that created the Halford Warrior.

Your War Angel is spectacular, man. Congrats and well done.

                                Newc,
Don't take this the wrong way. But you gotta be nuts if you have waited all this time for a custom you ordered...Now all of a sudden you are thinking of Inlays? Come on bro. Think about what you are saying. Do you realize that a quality inlay job will require a fret job at the same time? Personally, I think the guitar has a lot of class and looks really clean with out any BS on the board. At what point in time during your wait did you change your mind about the decision to keep the fretboard clean? Remember , it is your guitar. The opinions of others thinking the board needs something are just others opinions. Don't let it sway you from your original vision.

It is one of the nicest guitars I have seen ordered.
