That is cool. They're likely using up the old stock. Sort of like how SD plates were used almost 3 years after the first move. If history repeats itself then the true Scottsdale's won't show up in plates for another year...

Very nice! I would need a neck pickup, though.

Thanks all. I'm truly stoked to have it

This one won't be getting any structural mods

Jack - I ordered it in April of 2005.

I gave it a couple of days to "settle in" before adjusting anything (CA and TN have very different climates - either the dud in the Custom Shop played the crap out of it or the humidity got to it because the strings feel very dry and dirty), and so far have not had to touch the truss rod. The edge of the Floyd was about 1/32" or less above the edge of the route, and I lowered it so it's flush with the cavity, and there's very minimal buzz (bordering on none), and it doesn't fret out or "ring out" when bending anywhere!

I'm still debating on sending the neck off to be inlaid, but haven't decided yet either way. So far I'm not getting lost on the neck, thanks to the side dots, and I'd kinda like to see how/if inlays are negatively affecting my exploration of the board (i.e. playing "connect the dots" and ignoring the "empty space").

The KV neck profile is sweeeeeet! Not as thin as a JTX neck, but way thinner than a DK2 neck - maybe halfway between the two.

The Distortion is a TB-6 (trem-spaced), and this is the second TB-6 I've had, and I can honestly say I don't like the way trem-spacing affects the tone of the Distortion model. I thought it may have been the guitar last time, but there's a distinct lack of grind and fuzz with a TB-6 that you get with an SH-6. Notes don't seem to sustain as long, even with my highest-gain MP-1 patch (which can make a JB tolerable )
The SH-6 in my Killer using the same MP-1 patch has tons more saturation, beef, and bite than the TB-6. I've raised the TB-6 and that didn't seem to improve the results, so I'll most-likely swap it out for the SH-6.

Another idea I had was to get a custom pickup ring (Budman? ) that can hold 2 Duncan "Jr" pickups. I've ordered a 3-piece set of custom Duncans for a Warrior Pro - Jazz Jr, Custom Jr, and Distortion Jr - and thought about putting the Custom and Distortion in a humbucker ring, replace the jack with a stereo jack, and wire one pickup to the "tip" and one to the "sleeve", then use a stereo guitar cable into a modified ABY switch, and use that to select pickups

But I won't be adding a volume knob - I use an Ernie Ball High Gain Volume Pedal at the front of my chain and it acts just like a volume knob. It doesn't cut the sound off totally - at 0 it cleans up nicely

The white case was an upgrade "present" from Jackson! Scott sent me the pics in an email saying they had upgraded the case shell to white. That's simply amazing IMO.

Speaking of the case, it weighs a ton! I didn't check the shipping weight on the carton, and haven't weighed the case yet, but I'll hazard a guess and say 7 pounds at least - probably 10!

Ron - Good catch on the Ontario plate - didn't even notice it
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
