The route is smaller because it originally had a Schaller on it. He's got an Original Floyd on it now which, obviously, has the longer locking pins that extend past the route.

Thanks Joe. I have a Jackson Schaller on now that fits like a glove.
My father left for the weekend, so I borrowed his KV1 and gave it a little TLC in the form of a restringing, lemon oil, and good set up.
This guitar is very interesting because it has jumbo frets (it was re fretted). It's got a great feel it it, and the neck is a little thicker since it's a later model KV1 (alder body).
I love the headstock on this guitar, it's beautiful.
I actually like the fact that this guitar is broken in, and has some dings on it. It's a great player.
