  • Help- Suggest me a new pickup for my SLS

I am playing it through a 5150 and an Avatar cab. The body is mahogany with a maple top and a mahogany neck.

I have a PAF Pro in the neck and it is perfect.

I'm finding the bridge pickup, which is a Dimarzio Super Distortion, is not working for me. I need it to be a little tighter for heavy palm mutes and detuned low stuff since I tune to drop C. Its also a lot harder to pull of pinch harmonics. I never had a problem with them but I seem to be for some reason. I've had guitars with Bill Lawrence xl 500's, SD jb's, and EMGS and I have never really had a problems with harmonics. The jb was a little too muddy for me but the harmonics were great. I can not really remember what the EMGS or Bill Lawrence pups sounded like but I know I liked them.

I really do not want to go with EMGS because I would have to replace both pickups (I dont think I can mix actives with passives). Can anyone suggest a new bridge pickup?... X2N, Super 3, Evo 2?

Hey, if you go with the TZ, do you need regular spaced or F-spaced?
I just bought a RGA321 and the original owner had a regular spaced TZ put in instead of an F-Spaced.

My Dimebucker can kick your PU's arse. ahahahahaha!

TZs are good. So are the JBs. If you have the luxury, set up a quick connect system and swap PUs in & out until you find something you're happy with.

You can, but you'll need to run them on separate controls since the EMGs use 25k pots and the passives will need 500k, 250k or 1meg. And a booster will be needed to keep the output levels even between the two.
