I'd have to agree with the Custom Custom. It's a very warm pickup that would balance out the bright maple sound. Stay away from a JB, Screamin Demon, etc. FWIW I've heard Dimarzios are all pretty bright sounding.

Most dimarzios I've tried are pretty bright, except for the tone zone!

Also stay away from the duncan "full shred"... that one is WAY bright.

What kind of music do you play and who's tone do you like? I like several pick-up configs like the Tone Zone/Air Norton, JB/Jazz and 81/85 combos. I guess it's my mood that determines what guitar I'll play.

my '86 custom shop Soloist is all maple, and I've long considered changing pickups. This is some valuable info here.

You guys have mentioned the only 2 I'd do for this application... Custom Custom or Tone Zone. Good luck choosing.
