If you're going to have the neck painted, the standard one-piece with scarf joint would be fine. And a 3 piece would be a real nice upgrade.

IMHO, a 5 piece multi-laminate wouldn't be worth it unless you were showing off the wood.

      Welcome NOOB!!!!!

I'll answer your fret choice question......sorta.

Being a rhythm player myself, there is a noticeable diffrence in feel between the 2. I personally have both, but do find my KV2 and my soloist to be like night and day from each other feelwise when fretting the strings. So if you're so pleased with the frets on your KV2 then I'd say stick with what you already love.

      Oh, and 1 more thing...........
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

Pics up tomorrow, don't worry, you'll see the black beauty with it's white bevels for sure!

Now, I do use HEAVY strings, we tune down to B standard, so, I use 12's (12-52). Will that damage the frets, if I go for the small frets? What about if I ask them in Stainless Steel? What about Dunlop 6105 frets, are they stainless?

          this thread!

I agree with the two batteries in the switch compartment. I suggest wiring an extra clip together(black to red), leave it in your case and replace one of the batteries for a quick 9v mod when you're in the mood for change.

I love Dunlop strap locks. If the strap part comes loose it still wont come off. I've lost a custom shop BC Rich to Schaller locks. I think Jackson offers recessed Dunlop's. That's cool.

Ed Roman, Stay away. This can't be said enough.

I currently have Dunlop straplocks on my KV2, but, I thought, since I'm getting the Schaller tuners, the Floyd (made by Schaller right?) then I might as well get the Schaller locks, I mean, being all German and all, I thought that's top notch... any input?

Oh, what about the fretwire thingy?

if you do go the custom shop route, put the custom shop logo on the back of the headstock.

Yeah, I though of that, but, remember the back of the headstock will be painted with the snakeskin graphic as well, so, how will that look?

Anybody here has the "custom shop" logo in the back of the headstock for me to see (pic) ?

Meanwhile, you can check me playing it, here on this video at youtube.

Counter at 00:40, the audio sucks, but hey, at least you can see it, that's when we started playing the cover for Symphony Of Destruction (death metal style). Oh, and that guy Leo talking at the end of "our appearance", its me::

Anyway, if you're curious about the band... www.audiostreet.net/catenas

I prefer the Dunlops to Schaller’s as well. Do they recess them on the KV2? They were standard on my KV1 and basically it means you have no bulky strap button in the way. Quite a few of my BCRs came with Dunlops and I've never had a problem with the mechanism. I'd go with whatever you're familar/comfortable with. That being said, if the KV2 has Dunlops on it already, it's probably easier to stick with that system.

Recessed Dunlops? Never heard of 'em... but why are Schaller less better, don't they work the same way? Whats the most "famous" straplock system, Dunlop's or Schaller's?

Schallers are basically a smaller button and the lock is a clamp which goes around it. They work ok. The dunlops have a normal sized button and a male insert like a socket drive, but you know this since you have them already. The COOL thing are the countersunk dunlops. They work the same way as normal dunlops, but there is no button. It is a sleeve that is sunk into the body flush. Just pop the straplock insert into the hole and go....these are WAY COOL!!!!! They came stock on the KV1 and Y2KV and are stock on the KV2T.
