I never knew what a DILLIGAF until I met up with Phil and Stas. Then I saw it on a bike helmet this summer. Stas rides too, so is it a bikers thing Vitamin?

I think I am going to unload his Bradshaw system that was used on the Adren tour. Just to big for playing at home.

The PC-1 is probably Jackson's most versatile guitar. It has a thicker and wider neck. Seems to work better for more of a melodic expressive player like me. For me, I think the thick neck, the thick tone, and the sustainer are the most important features that make this guitar so great. I also like unfinished maple necks and the quilt maple tops on these are very nice.

But on a possibly negative note, the guitar is heavy. So if you like lighter guitars, then it might not be for you.
+1 The neck is better for vibrato than thinner necks - especially if you have bigger hands or longer fingers. I think it definitely contributes to the tone of the guitar. I have found no difference in how fast I can play on these compared to any other guitar I have had - Ibanez JEM, Hamer Californian, SL2, Warrior, etc...
Its just a different feel than rosewood or ebony. Every neck has a different feel so it comes down to personal preference with regards to feel.

Its also a misnomer that a neck through has better sustain. BS. This guitar has great sustain. When I had my amp turned up I could vibrato a note and hold it indefintely with out the sustainer being on.

Short of getting a Custom from somewhere or something like a Suhr, Tyler or Anderson you won't find better tone. This is easily one of the best production guitars I have ever seen.

yeah, well i hate you all ! i went to the local jackson dealer here and they sold the PC-1 they had. BASTARDS ! said they would order me one, but i'm not into that. so i guess i wait till they get another one or make the trip to NASH-VEGAS. but, don't let me stop you all from ranting about how good she is.

        cheers !

I don't have access to the classifieds, so I don't know what PC-1s are showing up there, but I do know there is what looks to be a very nice Purple Daze one on ebay. Why not buy a used one and if it doesn't float your boat, sell it. Should be able to get your money back, maybe more if you buy used.

oh, yeah ? i tried looking on e-bay at first and all i found was some KOA one that PHIL used on the X tour and they wanted 2500 for it. i think it was a charity thing. normally charity things are cool, cause you can write it off, but KOA doesn't get me going crazy and that is too much for a used guitar, even if the man himself played it.

what are they under ? i tried searching under PC-1 and PHIL collin. I guess i might need to take the time to weed through all the the jackson stuff on there.

Holy crap, I tried a Digitech GSP 2101 today.. Boy, I am HOOKED! I hadn't had any good previous experiences with Digitech gear, so I was naturally sceptical. But this thing here.. It's all I've ever dreamed about fx-wise! I WILL buy it, as a matter of fact I'm trying to sell off some stuff right now to afford a used one. It really is that good to my ears!

Recto: search using jackson pc1 (not pc-1). Make him a backdoor offer. If he doesn't bite...$1600 isn't bad for a very nice PC-1. I've seen them go used recently on ebay for around $1400 - $1550. (That's for relatively new stratheads). If I had the cash, I'd be all over it.

Guitardude, what are you playing that GSP2101 through? I'm currently using a Boss GT-8 into 2 Mackie SRM-450's (Full Range Flat Response) speakers. My Mesaboogie DC-3 tube amp is collecting dust and I just sold a Marshall tube amp combo.

If you already have a tube amp and like it's tone, then get something like the TSR-24 I mentioned above just for the effects, or maybe a newer effects only device that doesn't color your amps preamp tone.

The KOA is mine. Its under Phil Collen, not Collin. Cancer is in my family, so I try to do at least 10% from the auction towards it. I cant do 100% of it like one of my other guitars.

Mesaboog: If I manage to sell all my stuff in time I'll be playing through a Mesa/Boogie Quad
EDIT: Sorry, I got it backwards, my bad. I'm playing through a Marshall Valvestate 8008 at the moment, crappy some people say I know lol, but better than nothing eh? It goes through a Rivera 2x12 cab, thunderous!

I've been tempted to make an offer on your Koa a few times, but I can't justify the expense right now. I wouldn't want to insult you with a low-ball offer either as I'm pretty sure what you have into the guitar is a lot more than what your asking. Anyone that buys it at your asking price is getting one hell of a deal.

... This guitar as is, is thicker sounding than any of my other guitars. (although it's got 12-52 strings on it!) Sounds great. Like I said earlier, I am keeping these sized strings on this guitar. First because it sounds so great, but also because it is helping me with my left hand strength. It's is amazing how even over the short time I have had this guitar, that when I play my others, they seem to play so effortless and the necks feel so "SMALL". the PC-1 neck is pretty beefy, but not uncomfortable...to me anyway.
If you like the 12-52's you may want to try Dean Markley's "Light-Top Heavy Bottom" (LTHB, Blue Steel #2558). These are 10-52's (10-13-17-30-42-52). I've found the heavy bottom strings are the ones that really open up the guitar, much more so then the heavy top strings. For me the 10-52's got all the great guitar resonance of the 12-52's, while bar cords were still easy and I was able to do agressive bends on the low frets of the G and B strings (for SRV and Hendrix riffs).

I play 009 - 046 at the moment on my PC-1 tuned down one halfstep. For drop D tuning 010 - 052 would be my choice too.

Went down to the store and picked up some Ernie Ball Skinny Top Heavy Bottom strings .10 - .52. Same gauges as the Dean Markley's (they didn't have them).

I'll report back once I swap them out.
