First off, welcome to the board.
Are you saying that you bought a brand new guitar with a messed up truss rod? That's not funny. I have heard too many stories about problems with new guitars. This is not good.
I guess, I will stick with vintage guitars that have stood the test of time. Jacksons and Charvels and others. I have been here a long time and from what I have heard, I don't think I'll be buying a new guitar anytime soon. And I can afford any guitar I want.

+1. used guitars are more fun-you can modify them without feeling guilty or upgrades are already done.I don't think I'll be buying a new guitar anytime soon

Is there any cracked wood on the neck? I had a neck that had the wood cracked with the grain because of shipping damage. It was a very small crack but enough to through off the relief in the neck.
