The top string through ferrules, they look different between the top 2 pics as compared to last pic and they look larger than the "usual" ones they normally used. Are they actually "rear" ferrules? Do you possibly have a close up shot of them?

That does appear to be the case, it looks like the string exits the ferrule then has a short length before it breaks again on the top lip.... good eye.

You do have a good eye, Budman. The top ferrules are different than I've seen on past string-through J/C guitars. They're not "rear" ferrules, though. (...At least, as long as I'm not misunderstanding what you mean by that. ) They're circular with a rounded top where the string exits, and have a black washer-like base underneath the ferrule. I'll try to put a close-up pic up in a little bit. BTW, the back side seems the same style as prior models.

I can only assume that Jackson has recently started using a new style of top ferrule. Or, for whatever reason, they may have experimented with a new style on my guitar. In any event, they look nice and are functional.

Agreed, I like the "meatier" look as well. I look forward to the pic and again, she's truly a beauty and I love the old school attitude it has -

            Nice axe!

As for the top ferrules, they probably did the washers to protect the finish.

ohhhh! I see, they're still the original ferrules but they sat washers underneath. I bet this was because in some situations, these would "lean" forward and as matt said, they'd dig into the finish. I'm guessing these would help keep them level.

              Thanks for the pic, Pat-

That goes to show you how many string-throughs I've owned over the years. They throw a washer underneath, and I think it's something new. :ROTF:

They might have done it so the damn things don't pop out easily! Ever put a string through only to have it push the ferrule out? Talk about annoying. LOL

                              Very sweet guitar! Congrats.
