          Thanks again, guys.

Now that I've lived with it a few days, I thought I'd write out some impressions. The mahogany/maple top combo is just really amazing on this guitar. Very, very toneful. "Crunchy" is probably the best way I can describe it. The 3-piece neck seems rock solid perfect, well worth the upgrade. I'm really digging this pickup combo. I've been a fan of the Duncan Custom for while, but the Pearly Gates is new to me. And it's great - think '59, but less muddy and with just a hair bit more of punch. It just might be my new favorite neck position humbucker. The graphite nut and Sperzels are a great combo with the string-through layout. The tuning stability is HUGELY improved over my old KE2T, which had a bone nut & non-locking Gotoh tuners. I really wish Jackson would make these standard on all of their non-trem guitar models. Appearance-wise and playability, the guitar is just flawless. I mean really amazing. Depending on the lighting, the finish can look anywhere from a deep wine red to near purple. It's one of those colors that you just have to see in person - much more striking than photos will ever convey. And, depending on the angle you view it at, the quilt figuring does the whole 3D thing on you. Even the inlays have great figuring in them. Something about this guitar is really special. It's the real deal.

In fact, this one is so very cool, I'd really love to have the custom shop do a matching pair with a vintage-style roundhorn V. I'd keep the specs exactly the same, except do the V with a solid color and non-recessed Floyd. Unfortunately, that's a dream that will go unrealized.

                            Normal 25.5 - sorry, I'm not a big fan of short-scale guitars.

Cool, I understand. I prefer 24.75 scale, but got my custom soloist in 25.5 to have at least one with that scale!! Jack.
