I was going to post a pic of my trem cavity, but it looks just like etohk's.
@etohk If you ever want to part with that, give me a shout.
I've always wanted an original Chlorine PC1 with a Koa body.
Let me guess... 1995 or is it a 1996?
I'll "find" the cash if I have too.

You've probably posted the answer to this in the past, but since I'm fairly new:

How did you get a PC1 neck to put on your PC3? Someone selling the neck only on eBay? What happened to your original PC3 neck (sold on eBay?)??? I just can't imagine why someone would take the neck off a PC1 and sell it. I'm curious on this one.

I know I know. I just had the ESP laying around. It's an old MII that I got off ebay for a steal and I didn't like the color. And when I found out Dan did the graphic through GMW....

I couldn't resist (and I didn't want to spend $4,000 + for a custom Jackson with the graphic).

I got the PC1 neck from a member here. He had it on another guitar that wasn't a PC1 either. I don't recall where he got it from.
As for the PC3 neck, I sold it to another member here.
I posted it for sale in the classified section... I think it was up for about 10 whole minutes before it was sold.

wow, that koa indeed is amazing!

does anyone else have a koa or a mahogany back to show off?

            that amazing!

i'd love to compare the two. i've never seen too much koa.

and rjohnstone, why do you believe the top is a re-top, if its a Custom Shop piece?

couldn't have been ordered as such?

The bad route job makes me think it was a re-top.
You can even see router burn through into the trem cavity from the middle pup route. That would have never left the custom shop looking like that.

I know they have messed things up, but never that bad.

Here are some pics of the back of mine. Mahogany body.
Koa bodies were discontinued in 1997 or 1998 I think.

but i don't know what the heck they were trying to do there. the electronics are the same as any PC, i guess i just don't understand it, really, what the intention was.

i heard it was a trial guitar for Collen, so maybe they did some different things to it.

and is the back of your PC satin backed? i thought they were all clearcoated?

As for being a trial/prototype guitar... anything is possible.
Just poor craftsmanship on the route job.

As for the finish, all the Au Natural PC1's have a very thin satin finish.
Very raw and well... natural wood feel to it. Have to wipe it down after playing it or it will start to show dirt and sweat marks on it.

All of the other PC1 finishes are clear coated.
