  • That black XTRR!

Who here had that black XTRR with a reversed headstock?! I just recently got into the shape and now I really love it! Could someone post some nice pics of any XTRR.. I'm sure others would like the same thing too... I tried the search but couldn't find anything useful..

Btw.. what's the story behind the XTRR shape?

    thanks

I have a black XTRR but not sure if it's the actual one you're referring to. Here's a pic of it with my others:

The XTRR basically evolved from Danny Spitz's Jacksons (i.e. a rear loaded Rhoads with a downsized body and rev inlays). The notable difference between the production XTRR and Spitz's guitars is the reverse headstock....A popular misconception is that the body is 7/8 size - this is not the case: The top wing of an XTRR is significantly shorter than on a Rhoads, but the lower wing is not dramatically different as you can see in the pic below (RR1 on the left).

Oh, and as I'm 'showing off', here's a pic of my 'inspired by' custom order next to one of Danny's actual guitars (which I now own as well - thanks Robert!!). I changed some details to A: suit my tastes better and B: save some money(!) The colour was supposed to be the same, but either the Spitz has aged or the Jackson trans black has changed over time. Still, I'm glad the colour on my order is different now, as it's stops it being too much like the less favoured child!!

Yes, they do. Here's one that was on ebay a few years ago that the seller sent me pics of. I could have snagged it for $1200 but I foolishly didn't.

What years was the XTRR available in the USA Select series? I guess I could look at the catalogue site, but I'm lazy.

Here is also the link to my ex-XTRR. Riki from Japan had the same need for XTRR as you Otränad and made me an offer which I couldn´t resist (24 fret USA RR)... http://www.jacksonguitarpalace.com/RR2916/index.htm

Looking at those pix.........how is the neck attached? I see nothing on the back and it's not a neckthrough.

I don´t know which XTRR you mean but ALL of them are neck-thru...Some of them have oilneck (unfinished neck) and that maybe give you the wrong picture from the truth...
