If you want to sound like AC/DC's rhythm, you'll need a Gretsch Duojet like Malcolm Young.

I used to have a '61 Re-issue........for 5 weeks at least!!! It just didn't compare to my Jackson's so..........I replaced it with another Jackson (just like I replaced a Les Paul I had for 6 weeks with a Soloist Archtop Custom). The necks on Gibson's are just too fat (even the 60's profile) for my taste.
Tonally, the SG was no where near my DK1 in all areas. I'm a big Sabbath and AC/DC fan but this wasn't enough to warrant keeping it.

Seriously. It was a combination of things:
1. I had wanted a Floyd for some time.
2. I discovered that the Gibson PAF's weren't really for me.
3. The Les Paul was so gorgeous that I was afraid to play out with it anywhere.
I have no regrets about the above decision and I still have that Kramer.
Memories...

The Les Paul, if I still had it, would bring about $1200.00 or so. The Kramer, being super clean like it is, would probably bring about $300.00, but I don't care. I did the right thing.Member - National Sarcasm Society

I have an even spread of Gibsons, Jacksons, and Charvels. Each does what it does well. My 750XL is a tone monster, my SG Std nails classic Black Sabbath, and my 1977 Les Paul Custom nails Thin Lizzy like no SL2H could. But put them in the wrong role, and you have issues. I couldn't get a thick metal tone from my '77 Custom if my life depended on it. But GnR, no problems.

What do you think it would sell for these days?

My first LP was a 1972 fretless wonder. I couldn't stand the low frets and sold it (I think I bought and sold it in the mid $800 range). This was in 1989. I didn't get back into LPs until Dec 2002. That LP would be worth around $3k or more now.Last edited by DonP; 02-25-2007, 01:52 PM.

An SG must be wielded by the right player. Nobody with an SL2H is gonna kill Angus Young or Tony Iommi with their SGs. Their powers with an SG will squash any feeble attempts to challenge them with an SL2H - and don't bring EMGs because they will crush you with tone before they even plug in.
I want REAL change. I want dead bodies littering the capitol.
