Help about USA Custom DK1 - Yellow Bengal

If the neck plate serial only has 4 digits, it's a custom.
That does look like a stock DK1 though.
Are there any 0's in front of the serial... like this 008388?
If so, then it's not a custom.

No zero's. just 8388. Oh well. I gues I'll just always wonder what is customized...

Even if it is a custom (which I strongly doubt), it's so close to current DK1 specs that who would care?

I think (though I can't recall and the guitar is 4500 miles away!) that my Nebula DK1 has a 4 digit serial....

This is the DK1 Bengal that was sold by Wild West Guitars. It is listed on their website still under the "sold" area. Here's the link.

Looks like a standard USA DK1 to me but I'm not an expert on these specs. But I do know that WWG has ordered a handful of Jacksons and Charvels with thicker necks.

Serial numbers 5234 to 5999 do not exist (due to an error in the stamping machine). These neck plates say "Jackson, 4452 Airport Drive. Ontario, CA 91761". They are still in use today. NOTE 2: Since the Jackson Junior (JJ) is the only Jackson bolt on without a neck plate, these serial numbers can be found stamped into the fretboard

That is why I find it interesting that the guitar has a 4 digit serial, but looks like a production model.

Then again, neckplates are bolted on, and thus easily swapped.

And we all know that even if you want EMGs instead of Duncans (and are too stupid or lazy to do it yourself) then they'll gladly charge you Custom Shop $$ for it

As for the graphic, all the production Bengals I've seen did not have the orangish center. The WR1 at Matt's Music, the Soloist a guy had at '04 NAMM, the lefty Rhoads on Ebay, etc.

Unless things changed recently, USA Selects are supposed to have 6 numbers on the plate, Customs still get 4 (both my Customs have 4, pretty close to this number as well - within 100 or so).

Could be as simple as a thicker neck profile, most Dinkys have thin necks. Could be it has a mahogany body? Scaler length? Nioce guitar dude Jack.

Ripster.
Pull the neck off and see what is written in the neck pocket and the neck heel. May also be some info in the trem cavity.
Should be a work order number, date and serial number.
That will answer your question in a hurry.

Oh BTW...

On the back of the headstock there is a circular round RED sticker with the white number 61 on it at the tip of the back side of the headstock (after the high E tuning peg). Maybe that is a batch number or something?
