Tommi have You compared it to Your older Jacksons? On the pics it looks much lighter too if You compare it to the black on the guitar body...

          Older Jackson as a reference...

On my custom Star the board seem very black but if side by side with an older Jackson there is a difference.

After I got my custom RR I oiled the fretboard the colour turned to black immediately. Now it´s pretty much the same as in the older ones...almost

Bah, what's wrong with rosewood painted black Less likely to break, and less maintenance

It has a sharky on the 24th fret, that's unusual. Did you ask for it in the custom specs?

                > He's right, good quality pure-black ebony is getting harder and harder to find. Even builders of custom pool cues are complaining about the same thing. Cocobolo is nearly identical to ebony in it's wear characteristics, machinability, hardness, and so much prettier it's a joke, but I've never seen a Jackson with a cocobolo fretboard. It's a fairly oily wood though, and the dust is BAD news. Tommy D.

No, I havn't ordered it that way, but I really like the Sharky there.

Here is another Pic of the Fretboard after getting the oil on it two days ago.

if you've got only one humbucker, what's that switch for? coil-split? volume-kill?

oic. Sort of like the ones on the old DKMGT's? the turbocharger? Its like a overdrive pedal built in the guitar. Awesome!

The new picture of the fretboard makes it look like the oiling really darkened it. Is that the case? Just wondering as the original picture is of a different part of the 'board.

Oh, and congrats. on a rockin' guitar!

                              Thanks again all!

The Guitar has a push-pull poti with an EMG 89 and a PA-2 gainbooster. I don't need the single coil an the PA-2 with distorted sounds. The PA-2 is really noisy. But using the single coil with clean sounds is nice and then turning on the PA-2 gives you a nice crunch tone.

It turned all along the neck that dark. The fretboard was dry as hell. I really dumped it in the oil and all of the oil was into the wood an hour later. Still not getting as bright again as it was before. So I guess I'll be fine.

Great. You've inspired me to go oil the ebony necks on my guitars!
