Unless my memory has completely gone, abalone has never been 'standard'. It's always been MoP, so Abalone is pretty damn unusual on a USA Select guitar...

Anyone knows the whole story about those guitars? In 2002 catalog (the online catalog, i've seen, where GGF finish is listed) in has MOP inlay, not abalone. Was my guitar limited additions? What years was it made? Thanks!

Leo, a liitle trick to eliminate the off center characteristic when using set screw knobs on smaller shaft's, is to align the set screw parallel with the slot in the shaft. Tighting the set screw will not "squash" the split shaft sides and keep the knob on center. Works great! I think this was a Dan Erlewine tech tip!

Oh cool! But it was a nightmare really to be fooling around so much, EMG should make standard posts, like, when I replaced the pickups on a Gibson Flying V I had, the original top hat knobs wouldn't fit so I had to use different knobs. Sucks... Some guy also suggested to place like a plastic cap or whatever on the posts and then place the knobs and screw it in.
