Definitely an aftermarket scallop job, not the nicest I´ve ever seen but could definitely be worse.

    Still a sweet axe, though

Very nice. All of your SL2Hs, except the snakeskin, have EMGs. Any difference tone/sound-wise between them?

I've often wondered how much pickups vary in sound, if at all. I guess the question is, do all EMG81s sound the same? That Soloist I posted up top has an EMG 81, but I also have a Charvel Model 6 with an EMG 81. I think the only difference between those guitars is the Soloist has an ebony board while the Model 6 has a rosewood one. They sounded pretty close, but not the same, and they're both 1988s.

Maybe it's just the electronics or wiring differences between an import and a USA Jackson and not actually the pickup itself? I don't know.

EDIT: The difference was the Soloist was a little clearer. Notes came through more clearly and were more....um.......front stage in the guitar tone. With the Model 6 you could tell the individual notes played were a little more fuzzy.

The scallop job does look unique. Who ever did the job was very skilled in order to do it partially the way across the fretboard. Usually, the easiest is to cut all the way. Looks, possibly like a CNC machine with a ball end milling bit performed the surgery. We need a Budman opinion on this!

              Anyway, nice grab!
              Here's my Yellow Bengal SL1

Camo is definitely something you don't see everyday. I'm not a HUGE fan of it, but I don't hate it either.

Very nice shit going on here. I got major GAS for soloists now

I've had 81's in the bridge of several SL2H's and they all sounded the same to me. Those were all newer (last 3 years) emgs. I am not saying that EMGs make all guitars sound the same as some people say.

I had a ESP Hanneman with a 81 in the bridge with a steel cam /roller kahler ( http://home.satx.rr.com/dannym/esphanneman.html ) and a ESP Hanneman with brass cam and roller ( http://home.satx.rr.com/dannym/guitar2.html ) which also had a 81. Both were maple neck thru, alder wings and ebony board made in the ESP Custom shop.

Now if EMGs made all guitars sound the same then those two guitars would sounds the same....but the brass cam and roller Hanneman sounded meatier and over all thicker than the steel cam/roller. My SL2H's with EMGs also sounded thicker and meatier than my ESPs....all had EMG 81's in the bridge.

I did have some some older EMG 81s that sounded a bit different than the newer EMG 81's. So I guess not all emg 81s sound the same.
