  • Good points of the KE2 (deciding on a gtr.)

    I've made a similar thread on jemsite. I thought I was set on the Jackson KE2, but then I looked closer at the Ibanez JEM7V. They have the exact same list price (to the penny!). And I was wondering (from the owners of this guitar), what are the major Pro's of the KE2?

    Help me decide, they're the same price, and I like the look of them equally. A force is messing with my mind.

            I know, that's intentional. I want the actual _users_ of the guitar to tell me what's great about it.
            Tell me the +'s of the KE2, not the -'s of the JEM7V :P

                    A few more....
                    ke2 = ebony w/ neck binding, jem = rosewood w/o neck binding

                    Also, they drill all the way through the neck on those jems where the nut is, making them a bit less stable

                          I own an KE-2, and have previously owned Ibanez guitars. Ibanez guitars I've tried, to me is not even close to any Jackson I have played.
                          Ibanez sounds thinner overall, poorer quality and does not look good imo.
                          And the handle? Destroys whatever chance the Ibanez might have had imo

                            +1 I agree with Slash and I think you will really like the quality of materials in the KE2. The neck through Jacksons, necks are second to none. Nothing like a American made bridge strung up a bound ebony board, on a quarter sawn maple neck. Also, the electronic controls are high quality, such as the CTS pots.

                              Jemsite's main arguments:
                              -5 piece neck is more stable than the quartersawn necks (not sure)
                              -Edge Pro stays in tune better than OFR
                              -Much better fretwork
                              -smooth neck finish on the jem definitely beats the finished jackson necks (I can agree)

                              what do ya'll have to say about that? true or false?
