  • Kv2 or RR1

Ive considered getting a kelly/warrior/kv2/rr1. Since I always loved the v shape I deciding between the kv2 and rr1.
From the specs the only difference I see is that the kv2 has 24 frets, and the wings are equal in length.

24 frets isn't a must-have for me but ive also seen rr1's with 24 frets in the "post pics of your v's" section.
Is that something from the custom shop, and about how much more does it cost?

As for colors I'm deciding between transparent black or transparent green, and I'm guessing the price would be the same? Ive tried the rr1 before, but as for the kv2 i have yet to see it in person, so I'm definitely gonna try them out again before I pick.

Btw I am a to the forums so.... Hello!

Assuming we are talking about 2007 models, the KV2 has a JB/JB pickup config while the RR1 has Jazz/JB pups. Also, the KV2 has V/V/T controls while the RR1 has V/T/T.

Welcome to the forum. The KV2 has smaller, medium jumbo frets compared to the jumbo frets of the RR1. Jackson got those specs wrong on their site and has never changed them. Not sure if that would bother you or not, but some people don't like the smaller frets.

I gave you my "left brain" answer earlier....now the "right brain" perspective...both designs have been around for 20+ years. There are huge "karma" differences, as in Mustaine vs. Rhoads!!

Dont know about the medium frets. I would have to try them out. As for the karma thing I'm not sure if I want to hear it. Both of them are huge influences to me so... Lemme hear the differences. As for the jb and jazz pickups I guess ill have to try those out my self.

Kickass, that's the right attitude! I just hope you live in a city where you CAN try out USA Jacksons before buying!!! (don't flame me GC fans, I know that's a dead horse)

lol I've only had the opportunity to try out a usa rr1 at a guitar center. That was the first and only time ive tried one out, and i gotta say I loved it. I know of a samash and a local shop so those are my next destinations.

from what i have heard, the necks are very different from each other.

                  Quoted for truth.

The speed neck has a wide flat profile. To my hands, it feels like an elongated D. Very fast neck which seems to keep the hand in a good playing position. Whichever you choose b1ackened, they are both excellent guitars.

How come the headstock on this kv2t is different from the other kv2's?

Crafted with the demands of the discernible player in mind, Jackson guitars give you the shapes, finishes and tones you love. From the venerable Rhoads, Soloist, Warrior and more, shop Jackson for the highest performance.

Is that the headstock that comes with that color or with the kv2t in general?

That's the headstock that comes with the KV2T in general. It's also got a little thicker neck and shorter 24.75" scale length compared to the 25.5" of the regular KV2.
