Ah. Maybe it's a transition model when they first went to 24 frets but kept it H/S/S. Strange one.

Well, did you measure the scale length yet?

That would be weird too since the neck and body would have to be changed in order to make it 24 frets while still intonating properly.

              Hmm... does it intonate properly?

Two things come to mind. Fusions usually have the lower bout cut-out, and there was still a Custom Shop in 98, so it may have been custom ordered, but no logo applied.

it could be custom, but that's a production serial number.

I still believe the answer lies in the pocket. The best way to find out for sure is to pull the neck & see what is written there

Being a bolt on, the serials are all weird, it may not even be a 98.

I really need to change the strings soon, so I will take the neck off and see what is written (wish me luck-never having done this)...also, where do you measure the scale from? The nut to the OFR?
The intonation seems to be right.

If you measure from nut to bridge, you'll get slightly different lengths for each string since the position of each bridge saddle is different.

It's more accurate to measure from the nut to the 12th fret, and then double that measurement.

Well, the scale is 25.5" if that helps at all....
