  • Ontario San Dimas?

Hi, I'm sorta new at the vintage US Jackson stuff.

Just wondering if anybody's ever seen early Ontario dated guitars come with a San Dimas neck plate?
I've read mixed info, thought I'd ask the experts...

Sure. After the move in 1986, there were a lot of SD plates left over.

    Welcome BTW.

SN#'s 1506 and up are actaully Ontario made according to their web site.
      Hope that helps and welcome.

        Thanks for the clarification!

Picked this up and can't be 100% sure from just pics. More to follow...
Has what I thought was the later rounded Ontario type electronics cover but San Dimas Plate?
Steve Vai EVO PU but everything else looks close to original...

        A few more ?s

Schaller Floyd ever come on these vs the JT-6?
        Ideas on body wood...basswood, alder?

I'm only guessing here...late 80's Custom Shop Jackson Bolt-on Dinky Strat in Firecrackle Yeller ???
How would it ethically be referred to?
        - San Dimas?
        - Ontario?
        - Ontario San Dimas Plate?

87 and 88 models had the JT-6 trem, after that the schaller, those are referred to as just ontario's with SD plates. Sweet guitar you got there.

The tight crackles are mostly 1988.I had a red one and a blue one.86-89 were all custom shop guitars jackson had no production line of guitars until 1990.The SD plated guitars were all ordered by a store or a individual customer.JT-6 trems were the norm but an OFR was offered.I have an 87 crackle with a factory OFR.

Ususally refered to as Ontario or Onatario with SD plate. The one in the picture looks like a full sized strat not a dinky.

the control cavity route is ontario, so not one of the 'in-between' ones

Mine has a SD Plate #2877 and an SD control route would it be one of the in betweens?

Thanks for the great info gents!!!

I guess what is on it's way is a:
Late 88-89 Jackson Custom Shop Bolt-on Strat built in Ontario w/San Dimas Plate in a "Tight" Yeller Firecrackle with a possible factory Schaller Floyd ...

I imagine production numbers follow with the serial number allocation.

Yeah, through 1989 Ontario bolt ons (at least some) were still getting SD plates...

I saw that one on Ebay locally here in TX and thought it looked like a good deal with both necks.
                          Congrats!

Serial numbers are not in order.Plates were used at random. That one is a super strat. The two tight crackles I had were dinkys and were 88s
My guess on the schaller floyd would be a later replacement and not factory for this guitar but did appear in 89 and 90.

remove the neck from the body, and look in the neck cavity or on the neck heel for a datestamp and or WO#

here's one of mine with a clear indication
