Well after 2 years wait it has arrived. What happened that it took so long? Well after emailing Ed Treat I got a disturbing response that he couldn't find a WO for my guitar as pending. So what happened was the guitar actually came to Matt back in November but it was shipped in the incorrect case with no headstock support and the headstock snapped clean off in shipping. Matt sent it back immediately for expedited repair, since it was just a neck repair it should have been fast and I guess this is why I was never told. Anyways. Many many months later Matt finally told me what happened and I never really got the details of how my repair got lost in the shuffle, but Chris Flemming (General Manager of Jackson) sent me an email, apologizing and keeping me updated. 2 weeks later it was scheduled to ship but a blemish was found on the face of the headstock so it was stripped and repainted. So now its arrived. I am happy to report that the guitar is fantastic and plays about 100x better than any other guitar I have owned. I spent a long time deciding on woods, pickup combinations and what not and I think it really shows. Its extremely well balanced but very warm. Are there any issues? Well yes with a custom this compicated I expected there might be some. First the guitar was supposed to be blue/green burst. Its just trans green. Secondly the whole back is incorrect. The back of the body was to be gloss natural as was the neck. Instead the body back is trans green and the neck is satin. None of these issues detract at all, it still looks incredible. I had asked for a scalloped heel and horn, the heel I got, the horn I did not, but that might be because of the unusual body shape. The wiring is incredible, it was very complicated and from what I can tell its absolutely perfect.
My thanks to Matt and my appreciation for the craftsman who made the guitar. My only harsh words go to Jackson customer service for not communicating with their customers in an situation like this. I should not have to made the fuss I did to get a response.
Without further ado, here are the pictures (thanks Matt) I may add more later when I am able to take some closeups in good light.
One funny thing, in the case I got a bag of allenwrenches and a tremolo....which is funny cause the guitar has no trem! :ROTF:
Oh and of course the binder and photocd w COA? Not here...I guess that would be expecting too much lol.
