I thought that too, but the more I looked at it I think its just an optical illusion . Anyway, cool guitar! Not what I would get but that doesn't mean it isn't sweet

I love that shape, I love green and I love the options you chose for this piece! Looks incredible man, I've been dyin to get a quote done for pretty much that in a 7 string forever. Quick question, the fingerboard wood, it looks incredible, what kind of tonal properties does it have vs. rosewood? How's the feel, the same also?

I'd say its closer to Pau Ferro actually. I believe its related to ebony and it does share some of the properties of ebony (tonally bright, hard to the fingers) Its smoother to play on and it really is almost exactly like pau ferro as far as feel but with a tone thats somewhere between ebony and pau ferro (brighter than pau ferro, less so than ebony). There wasn't a crazy upcharge for the wood either, much like Kingwood its a very cool looking tonewood that alot of people really haven't discovered yet.

Amazing! Congrats! Did they make you a new neck when the headstock broke or just glued it? For a brand new guitar, I'd be kinda pissed if they had just glued it...

Great guitar but why is it not a NECK THRU?

Congrats and cool that you like it, but such a shame about the issues and the wait. Not to mention they still didnt get it right.

Who wants to be the first to shoot this guy. :ROTF:

Repeat after me. Neck thru is just as good as bolt on. Especially with a scalloped heel and its about 800 bucks less.

The short answer? Cause I didn't want this guitar to be a neck thru.

As far as the neck I think it has to have been a new neck, I don't know for sure. It doesn't look like it was glued, there is a huge color variation in the koa on the neck but I think thats just the two piece construction. If you look at the close up of the back you can sorta see what I mean. Near as I can tell though they had to make a new neck.

I would ask them... Bolt-ons rule!

a non-neckthru Custom Shop? Are you mad?!

sweet axe, Chris. Sorry about the troubles you've had, particularly it not being just what you'd ordered. But it still looks amazing. The colour, the archtop, the natural binding, gold hardware, truss rod cover - it comes together so beautifully
