  • My Jackson custom shop

    Hi,

I was wondering if someone could shine some light on my recently purchased Jackson Soloist.

I know that it’s a 1989 custom shop neck-through (serial number J53XX) with a custom graphic and a Jackson Schaller FR, but that’s where my knowledge ends. I’ve only seen one guitar with a similar graphic, which is this Strat (http://audiozone.dk/CatalogScans/Jac...1988Page11.htm) from the 1987/1988 catalogues (although the Nagel graphics I’ve seen on this site seem to have the same style).

If anyone has any information on the graphic, like what it’s called, who made it and roughly how many were produced I would be incredibly grateful.

Also, if someone has the custom shop log from 1989 and would like to share it, I would really appreciate it (I can’t access the Jacksonmuseum.com).

    Here are some pictures:

This is a picture of the back, despite the terrible lighting you can see the covers, which appear to be made out of aluminum. The rest of the back and sides is painted black.

Like I said, any information on this guitar will be very much appreciated,

    Thanks in advance,

    Julius.

I think that's called a 'Nagel' graphic, after the artist, Patrick Nagel. Pretty sure that the pickup covers were painted over too, a lot of the detail (eyes) are missing because of the standard Jackson covers and surrounds.

Nice looking soloist. I haven't seen too many soloists with the nagel graphics but there are a couple dinkys with other nagels or nagel-style graphics out there. And have you considered getting the humbucker painted to match? An email to Dan Lawrence might be a good idea to help restore the look.

Here's my Jackson dinky. I was able to track down the original owner who had removed the painted pickups. He still had the original humbucker so I put that one back in.

It seems like a good idea and I have to agree that the painted pickup completes the look, but I don't think I'm going to be able to track down the original cover, so I'd have to get a new one made.

Yep, it's from Brussels. I don't know if this one has been on Ebay a lot, because I've bought it directly from a store whilst visiting there.

that's cool, the store owner did offer it a few times to me, but we didn't found a compromise on pricing

Are Belgians taking over this forum?

man those are cool. and that one in the catalogue looks like a full size strat body, while his he just got is a soloist.

                              interesting.
