See, there you go - you balanced out the negativity. It does suck that the prices have gone up, and that it takes so long, but if people want to go forward and ask for help spec'ing out their dream guitar, don't shit in their cornflakes.
I'm just tired of every CS post turning into a bash-FMIC deal when people are trying to come up with awesome ideas.
+1. Anyway, those specs look Awesome! I hope this goes well for you!
It's not about being negative to anyone's ideas man, sure, I think they're great, hell, mine were great too for me at least.
What I was surprised about was seeing people who are actually thinking about going and having this done knowing about the crazy price increase and paying like an extra 4 grand just for the hell of it. Of course, it's all about a personal choice and I respect that. I was just surprised, no big deal.
I thought most people were looking elsewhere for custom guitars.
does the Jackson Custom Shop make exact duplicates of the Original Concorde body Randy Helped Design? How close are the 25th anniversary to the original body?
- Send that picture along with the order, to make sure they get the body style correct.
- Do you want a carved top (hard edges, like a PRS) or archtop (soft arch, like a Les Paul)? If the latter, specify a "soft archtop".
- And I would change the color field on the form to "trans black burst" or something to that effect. If I'm reading correctly, you want a trans top with blackburst edges, with solid black back and sides, right? It'll just make it clearer for the guys at the custom shop, IMHO.
- And if you have a pic of the top color to match, I'd send them that, too. I've seen a lot of variation in trans black finishes, and a lot of them look like @ss, IMHO.
- Also, IMHO, I personally wouldn't go with a plain maple top with that finish and an arch. It's your guitar, though, so do what makes you happy.
I agree with the no custom shop logo. It won't have any impact on value. Or, if you want it, specify to have it placed on the back of the headstock for a cleaner appearance. I've done that.
I disagree with the no made-in-USA choice, though. You should have it. Almost all USA guitars have it. And, whenever we see a USA guitar without it, it raises questions about legitimacy. For better or worse. It just looks right, too.
-The archtop... will be left in their creative hands ... because I have NO reference pic except the archtop Rhoads and an Archtop Concorde has never been made. So I'll only leave "Carved top - Archtop" in the options and pray it comes out kick ass.
-There isn't a "Trans Black Burst option" available in the quote so that's why I placed "Black" because the whole body will be black except the top which is specified correctly in the bottom.
-I don't want those logos because I don't care if people don't believe me, I won't sell this guitar... I'll play it and stay with it forever. This guitar is to impress me and satisfy me. All I want is to wave JACKSON and to see my signature in my guitar. That's enough to make me happy at the headstock.
-About the "top", I don't like quilts or flames, spalted stuff. I want a nice elegant simple look. And for me... nothing is more elegant and simple than Plain Maple Top:
also... this is the body I want and I want to know how different it is from the one Rhoads played:
