      Well, I don't know about that. The Armstrongs are a totally different breed of pickup from what I normally use. I previously owned an import AT2T with the same pair, and they were more "airy" (is that a word?) sounding, good for cleans and chord-based rock styles more than metal. That has been my experience anyway. Actually, the JVA-1 neck `bucker has the best clean tone of any pickup I've ever played. Of course, my first impression of the AT-1 has been just playing at home quietly. Under the same circumstances, pickups like the Screamin' Demon and JB didn't seem to fit the death metal vibe very well, but in a live scenario, they sounded great. Also, the guy who bought my old AT2T is in a death metal band, and the Armstrongs actually sound pretty good.

      Regardless of how well the Armstrongs suit my playing style, I'll probably leave them in. Dare I say, I've bought this more from a collector's perspective? But if the day ever comes where we do a video, I would play the AT-1 for sure!
