    Maybe.

On a guitar body I'm refinishing, there is a this maple veneer on top of the 4 piece butcher block body. I suppose this is to hide those lines. Too bad Jackson isn't doing this practice. My body is a cheap JB Player from the 80s.

actually this makes sense. i saw this kind a thing in a couple of guitars and none of transparent (with top or veneer) ones had it. i always liked transparent guitars anyways

Thanks a lot for the replies, guys.

The pictures are actually not the best quality and maybe they wrongly convey the impression of "orange peel". (There was quite some dust on it!) The finish looks quite good to me other than the lines.

It happened after I left for a couple of weeks on vacation (I think) and I had left my room's window open in Boston (that means cold!). I will know not to do that ever again!

I'll live with it then. At least, I know I am not alone...

Exactly the same thing going on here, JC..
I have a 2003 KE2 in Silver Swirl...I noticed it randomly when shining it up one day.
            Don't worry about it.
            Looks nice, btw.
