  • ideas about cs: messer"king v" schmitt

hi, this is my first post so i am a newbie in forum

but i need your opinion about my custom shop king v.

i am a die hard wwII geek and i really like aviation. so i decided on this theme.

    specs are;

    alder body
    quartersawn hardrock maple neck/thru body
    ebony fretboard 24 frets
    mop inlays
    ofr
    pickups: not decided yet
    25.5 inch scale
binding on neck and headstock (white)

ps. the inlays are not going to be like this. i chosed these ones because these are closest ones to the original inlays that i want. the inlays i wanna put on this baby is

    just like this...
this is what it is going to look like (i hope )

my only problem is pups. i like closed ones like emg s but i dont like emgs. so i decided to order a couple of jcs hand wired pups. but i dont know how to do that. i want them closed because the graphic is going to be on pups to. so it will look better. is cs still manefacturing the oldie jackson pickups?

You don't need to order Jackson pickups to get covers. I have a custom shop Soloist that has a Duncan Distortion with black cover. In your case, they could paint the graphic over that. I don't think the Jackson pick ups are produced anymore anyway.
Nice King V idea by the way

        Welcome, Turkish!

There is a possibility they won't do those German cross inlays...

thats sad actually i recently saw a warrior with a big german cross on it (not the nazi symbol the normal cross like in my first post). if you are right then i am gonna have to think really good to find out another inlay

Very cool! Why not the "Cross of Iron" medal in the fretboard inlays?
Geez... if Jackson is so "politically correct"... they cant use part of
history... then were all doomed! I understand symbols being a bit
hurtful, but if they were on WW 2 planes, then they are an AVIATION
item! Cant wait to see this in real time pics! Congrats.. great choice.

Other than the paintjob and the inlays this would be actually a standard KV-2 with almost no mods and honestly that won't be very "reasonable" for the big price that you're gonna have to pay anyways. If I were you I'd go with different woods at least. I mean, alder and maple are not "my cup of tea" but maybe it works for you so it's totally cool for the purpose, so nevermind, I was just saying.

                  Cool inlays!

I think those are the same symbols used by the modern german armed forces as well. The swastika was the nazi symbol. The german cross was the traditional symbol of their armed forces.

Yup. You're correct that both the Iron Cross and the symbol destructin_od wanted to have as his inlay weren't invented by the Third Reich. This symbol is the current Bundeswehr symbol aswell afaik.

Swastika wasn't created by the Nazi's either and was used long before that time.

                        Problem is :

Messershmitt's (bf109's like those pictured on the project) were used ONLY by the Third Reich Luftwaffe (their airforce).
The company was banned from post war Germany - or to be more exact they were banned from making any kind of aircraft.
And AFAIK Messerschmitt's like those pictured above had a Swastika painted on their tails while they were used - if we want to be exact about history.

Don't have anything against the inlays by themselves - but believe me in heads of at least some Europeans the term Luftwaffe doesn't neccesarily sound "positive" if you know what i mean.

                        Got my point ?

Just ending - it's all in the hands and the wallet of destructin_od and what will jackson make - guessing by the reaction of ESP after the S key thing i'd say they'd be pretty cautious about this.

actually i got your point. but as i say this mock up thread cant show you the picture as i want you to see it. it will be much more complicated than this. back of the guitar is going to be a monster. with drawings ande etc. but if i buy a mormal kv2 and send it to a airbrusher it will cost nearly as a cs. if you want your motorcyle helmet to be painted they will take 750 bucks. and the helmet is less complicated than a guitar. so im counting on cs they are great builders. and even if they deny my offer about painting i got some other ideas.

destructin_od - i can surely understand your passion for WW2 Aircraft - my cousin who has a degree in history was a maniac of it aswell.

The whole idea and the mock up looks really cool - i'm just curious IF Jackson will do it because of the abovementioned points.
If not sure you can have some spitfire's/hurricane's/p-51s all day long

Are the inlays the only issue or is the graphic too ?

Personally, I think that a custom guitar should be able to have what you really want, I mean, it's not like it's gonna be mass produced or in any case, it doesn't mean that the company agrees with the theme on each guitar they make... I've seen lot's of guitars with upside-down crosses and I don't think that it means that the guitar company is anti-Christian right? Sure, there are more delicate "themes" that may be really controversial but still, it's all up to the user who buys it. It's a bussiness, if you want to have a giant svastika on the hood of your BMW there are people who will do the paint job, it's all about money this days.
