Would any of you recommend swapping out the PU's (TB4/SH1N)? I play a lot of metal, but cleans are a must. I want slightly higher output in the bridge, and a more huge sounding low end. Pickups I've looked at:
- Lundgren M6
- Duncan Custom Custom
- Duncan Custom 5
- DiMarzio Tone Zone (I put a Super distortion in my DK2M and was less than satisfied)
- Bareknuckle Nailbomb
Hey, if the JB/59 are the be all, end all pickups, you can tell me so as well :ROTF:

I'd go with a Tone Zone in the bridge and keep the '59 in the neck. Or I'd go with a Jazz in the neck if you like a little bit brighter tone there.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

I've heard good words on the Duncan Custom 5, but they say it's like a higher output '59, and then I would essentially have a '59/'59craaazay

The Custom 5, according to the Duncan tone chart, has the same eq and alnico V magnet as the '59, just higher output. I didn't care for it that much in my Charvel Star, I thought it was a little too scooped in the mids, so I went with a Tone Zone (kept the Jazz in the neck). I am a fan of '59s and don't notice all that much of a scooped tone in them. My Mark Morton model has the '59/'59 set in it, and they sound great.
And the Tone Zone is actually a little higher in output than the JB. I don't know the numbers offhand, but you can check their websites.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Yeah, that's the problem, SD doesn't seem to want anyone to know the output of any of their pickups
What can I say - it's pretty tough to shop for pickups, being that there's no real way to tell how they sound in your guitar without buying them and installing them. So I can really only go by criteria and suggestions.
I really like the low end in my Explorer. It has stock pickups, I think they're ceramic. Clearly, that guitar's made of mahogany so it will naturally sound warmer, but finding a pickup that got me closer to that in lows while retaining the highs that the Soloist has would be my ideal pickup

Hand-crafted electric guitar pickups, acoustic guitar pickups, bass pickups and pedals. Helping musicians find their signature sound since 1976.
An Invader might be a good choice for you. I had a pair in an old poplar body Kelly and loved them.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
