I prefer the look of the normal one by far. Though i've never played on a LTD, i can't imagine it having better balance, playability, etc. than the normal RR.

I have to say I will take my LTD over any other rhoads I have ever played. I love the feel of the neck and how it sounds, not to mention it's easy to start feeling like a rock star playing that thing. I don't really care for the jack placement (on the lower wing) but I enjoy playing it more then my other jacksons. It's pretty weighty too, the RR1 is easier to play sitting down, where the LTD you have the cable sticking out where it rests on your leg, not a big deal but still a con.

I have no problem at all hitting the upper frets on it though I have read others say they have had issues. The toggle which can be annoying if you want to play the neck pickup and you have a belly like mine that keeys pushing it into the middle position. The four nobs just give you volumn control and tone control for each pickup (where on an RR1 it just has one tone for both) I'm sure there's no difficulty in finding better guitarist then me on the question about different sound options as I don't have much use for a tone control on any guitar.

I think the biggest difference is perception more then anything. To me it sounds better then any Jackson of Gibson I have ever owned, but I am biased as it was my first Jackson and the first guitar to pull me out of the charvel model series into the US made stuff.

If you have the option to play one do it, they are nice guitars.

chromatic: that second pic looks more like a regular rhoads than the concorde prototype....

um.... how can your belly push the pickup switch? You still have your humbillicle cord attached to it?

-how is the balance of the LTD sitting down and standing? do you consider the guitar a very big guitar in a way that it makes playing hard or uncomfortable?

-And besides the belly pushing the toggle switch (lol)... is it easy to switch bridge/neck/middle with the toggle switch in that position?... or do you find it better down the bridge next to the knobs like in a normal RR? Faster or slower switching?

-does yours have a floyd rose? pics would be great man!!

The LTD has the toggle on the very top of the guitar, not facing out like a les paul or production Rhoads. any time the guitar angles toward me at the top and the switch is on the neck pickup it just pusshed to at least the center position.

not a great photo. Mine has the floyd rose, I had the option to buy one with the old school trem and passed on it. I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad about that now that I know how rare those ones were. The balance for me is fine, it doesn't nose dive or anything. It's actually the most comfortable guitar I own for playing standing up. sitting down not as much, you can see in that picture where the cable jack is compared to my other rhoads. You can also (sort of) see where the toggle switch is. If I have the neck pickup engaged (which is rare) and the bottom of the guitar shifts outward the toggle gets moved. I may someday loosen it and twisted it a little so that the toggle goes from horn to neck instead of from belly outwards

I can't really answer the toggle switch placement as I don't really use the bridge pickup at all, when i want that sort of sound I go to a les paul or my horizon. so it's ease of use isn't really an issue for me. If I used it more I would say the the placement sucks But the guy or tried to sell me the other one with the vinatage said he liked it because he could flick the thing to the bridge pickup with out skipping a beat (by shifting himself forward on the guitar, the same thing I don't like about it but then i have a bit more cargo sticking out then that guy did hehehe)

I always thought that the LTD toggle switching was horn to neck! If the switching is from belly and outwards I can understand you concern about your belly flicking it to the middle position.

So I suppose that if the imput jack was placed in the longer wing.. the LTD would be comfortable to play sitting down.
