Well, my chart is not exact...but I have used some pretty good projections and have been proved right on many occasions...so I don't know why you'd totally throw out my info by saying "you doubt it's from 2002"...who ya gonna believe, the Almighty JCF veteran RacerX, or "some Finnish guy" :ROTF: ... you'll notice Jackson has n/t 01s starting at U08970...your theory proposes quite a production increase in 01....but hey, I'll admit it could be an 01 or it could be an 02...at this point, it really don't matter, it's a late Ontario either way...so it just could be really sucky after all"Quiet, numbskulls, I'm broadcasting!" -Moe Howard, "Micro-Phonies" (1945)

I used to own RR-1 from 2001 (U10267) so this KV-2 could still be from 2001
If we will agree that it was made between in the end of 2001 and in the beginning of 2002 I guess that everyone is happy?

Or just get a KV PRO, it's already got a Kahler.Unleash the fury.....Texas style!

KV1, England..... I wish, I really do, they're hard enough to come by in America aren't they?
Also, the paint is kinda tatty on this guitar anyway, if it was in good condition, I would keep the BGF.
Also, RacerX...KVX, you don't mean a KVX10 do you?

I can see your point about the hang-tag being as good a date to asign as any. However, as that would mean a non-monotonic map from serial number to production date, I think it's sensible to treat the hang-tag as an upper bound on the production date, as Ron has said.

Thanks, Ken.
Berkay, I was thinking further about your ser# and I think it was hanging around because of the move from Ontario to Corona, which happened sometime after February 2003. I bet your guitar is a late 2002 Ontario that got shuffled around, and got tagged as a 2003."Quiet, numbskulls, I'm broadcasting!" -Moe Howard, "Micro-Phonies" (1945)

Well I can continue making up conspiracy theoriesWe have RRxxxx stamped soloists. San dimas plated ontario guitars etc. so anything is possible. there can be something different going on with my guitar or ken's guitar.
I'm not worried about the production date of my guitar it can be whatever it is but if I were to give it a date the hangtag would still be the most reliable source. Since you can't know when a guitar is completely finished, when its serial was stamped etc. From what I've seen so far my guitars serial fits well in to its date on the hangtag.
A guitar dated 2002 with the serial U116xx and one dated 2003 with the serial U10949 is odd though. Since there are about 700 guitars in between. I'm not even sure if they are producing 700 usa selects in one year. So your guitar should have been produced 1 year later than mine according to the serials while it's dated 1 year earlierSo either my guitar was sitting there for 2 years or your guitar is 2 years ahead of time

Has a wiki-page where people can add their guitar type, finish, serial number, hang-tag date and hang-tag info. ever been mooted? I think it would be a worthwhile addition to the forum.
I'll fill in the last two digits of my guitar's serial number when I have it on front of me this evening.
