I came across a PC1 natural in a local store, brand new but with a generic case. They are asking $1450 for it. I loved the guitar but how do you feel about the price.
That'd be below dealer cost for a brand new PC1. Makes me highly suspicious that the dealer is BS'ing, and it's actually a used guitar. (...Which would explain the non-original case, too.)
If it's brand new guitar. That is a super killer deal.
I have a feeling that there is something up with it though. Maybe, you aren't real familiar with the Jackson line? Are you sure it's a new strathead model. Not a looks new, been sitting on the wall for 3 years model?
Some more info would help.
Edit:
When I was typing my reply, There were no other responses. I totally agree with Shreddermon
Come and get one in the yarbles, if you have any yarbles, you yunick jelly thou!
This guitar is in a local GC and it has probably been on the wall for a couple of years with no real interest. Unlike most GC demos it is pretty much perfect and in new shape. The case is missing probably because they sold it with another Jackson but they will sell me another Jackson case for $50 but without the paperwork. It's a PC1 with the new headstock.
That is way too much for an import line PC3. One more thing, if it has been sittin on the wall for a few years, it DOES NOT have the new headstock.
They haven't even made this line for a few years now, if I am correct.
I checked online prices and I'm going to say that around $500 seems to be the very top of the range of what you should pay. Assuming you are in the U.S.

Oh man, I went through all that and you mistyped.:ROTF:
Still $1450 for a new PC1 is very suspect. If you can find out what year it is. I can guarantee it's not a new one. It has to be an older model that he just wants to sell at this point. I would seriously look at it though, because even if it's a firesale, that is cheap.

I bought a Ibanez Prestige from GC for $990 and they are usually $1600.
It didn't have a case but it was definitely legit.
If you can confirm the pick ups are the correct config and the body is in good shape I would go for it...a lot of used PC1s are on ebay for that price.
I can believe the case story. Jackson molded cases are not very good and are prone to damage (thin aluminum extrusions and thin ABS case walls) . I have had two brand new cases damaged by UPS sent from dealers this year. $50 for a new Jackson case is good if that's what you want. A Gator molded case is ten times better IMO. Check to make sure the sustainer works and they put fresh 9V's in the clip. There are some instructions on the sustainer operation in Q & A. Do a search. (I posted the factory operation manual awhile back). If you can't find it, drop me a PM and I'll send the scan to you. If everybody needs it I'll post it again.
Also, RJ did a color photo modded version of what each knob and switch does. That was posted in the Q & A section as well.
I did go back after work and check it out. It's a genuine PC3 with the strat head. It was in outstanding, but not mint condition, in other words what one would expect from occasional demo'ing it GC. The sustainer and pickups and switches seems to work fine.
I have one more question: two actually (!).
Does the PC3 come with any special paperwork from the factory such as a certificate? Also it wasn't clear they had the trem bar since they sold the case. How easy is it to get a replacement and what can I expect to pay.
