Musical Exchanges in Birmingham used to be the tits but it became Sound Control. I still mourn its passing.
Now there's PMT across the city centre but its basically a few thousand Gibsons and Fenders and the odd PRS and Ibanez. Oh for the days of going into guitar shops in the birthplace of heavy metal and playing some Jackson USA's, ESP's, Kramers, Charvels...etc.
"Do you have any Jacksons?"
"Erm...yes. I think there's some shitty Korean bolt on efforts round the back."
BAH!!All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.

Yeah PMT dont stock any US made Jacksons... in fact the one near me hardly has any Jacksons... 2-3 Japanese made ones thats it. They have about a million Fender, Gibson, PRS and shitty low and brands as you said though. If your mum stabbed ya you wouldnt get upset... You would say ' Ohhh shit mum stabbed me! I better go to a hospital'. - Chopper

Thanks for the pic Mazrim. I killed mysellf when I saw PMT's first advert. Couldn't help die when I spoke to them over the phone too. Sound Control were originally Carlsbro. Then it was Academy Of Sound until a couple years(+?) ago. Certainly Leicester SC tend to have Jacksons more often now, and they sell fairly quickly. Nottingham will only do "Special Order". If only I could get finance, boohoo. I took another look at that DK1 the other day, and that neck still looks and feels like rosewood to me. The tag says 2005. I had to do this discreetly in case that bozo started giving me grief about touching a "custom shop guitar" .Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

Some Ebony boards can look browner than others but I've never seen one that could be confused with Rosewood. Sounds dodgy, although judging by the pics I would say its a DK1 alright.
By the way, where is the classified section on this site? I've heard tell of it but have yet to see it.Last edited by Mazrim; 10-11-2007, 06:48 PM.All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.

100 posts eh? I better starting talking bollocks then.
Starting.....now.
I had a look Bri. Man, that doesnt look like ebony at all. It just doesnt look right. Maybe its the light?
The grain would give it away I suppose but in my opinion if you want a guitar with an ebony fretboard it should look black. Thats the whole charm of it.Last edited by Mazrim; 10-12-2007, 03:40 AM.All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.

I HATE shops that wont let you try out gear, people really need to get over themselves, I can understand it it is a super limited edition wallhanger, but not to let you play a guitar "because it's a custom"?? what a crock of shit.
It happened to me in a shop in Glasgow when I was 15, I wanted to try a Fender Strat and was told that unless I was buying it then I could forget it as "they didn't give shots of £350 guitars to just anyone",(this was 87 BTW) their loss, didn't buy as much as a pick from them, spent thousands elsewhere.
If they were the last guitar shop on earth I would take up the banjo!

I used to piss around in Musical Exchanges when I was a teenager playing all sorts of exotic guitars. They put up with me and my bullshit and then a few years later I spent thousands in there.
And how exactly is this guitar supposed to be a custom? Is it because it has strings? All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.

That's an Ebony Boarded DK1 for sure. I sold an identical one last year to a guy in Liverpool. I have brown streaks on my SL2H which is pretty common these days.
The retail on those is currently £2099 (for all graphic models in the select series), I just wish that we could get somewhere close to the US regarding price but it's just not so unfortunately. It's pretty well cheaper for us to import guitars retail from the States which would cost less than our trade price from FMIC Europe.....complete madness. I currently have 7 US Jacksons and Charvels in stock but to be honest, they are pretty hard to sell, even discounted down, I just can't compete with the other side of the Atlantic.
Cheers
Steve
