    Hey guys,

I've been around for a while, but I don't remember ever actually posting my guitar. It's a 1989 USA Soloist (I was told it was a custom order, but I'm not sure how the factory worked back then.)

I bought it in 2002 for $500. It's pretty worn. Needs a refret, but it's still my best-sounding, best-playing guitar. I love this instrument. His name is Terry... Not my name. It was on engraved on the truss rod cover when I bought it, and I kinda like it. Decided to keep it.

I've never seen another Jackson with the hum/single pickup configuration. I had it all torn apart to clean it and set it up today, and I found that the humbucker in it is in fact a Gibson pickup. It sounds great--very EVH. The pickup at the neck is fantastic, too.

One thing, though: Is there any way I can get my guitar's build sheet?

Build sheets are now impossible to get since the FMIC takeover.

    Nice custom I like it!

H/S is the best dude, I just pop out my middle pup on my SL1 and wing it. Very badass fiddle!

Very cool - h/s is pretty rare on Soloists....

Nice Jackson and quite a steal for 500$. Worn guitars have their own kind of appeal. Too bad for the original owner though.

Very true- sometimes a worn-in guitar has a vibe that you just can't get anywhere else.

That is a very cool axe, and the hum-single configuration is very rare on Soloists.

I'm fairly sure that in 1989 that it was a custom order, as nothing was "production" at the time. The final test- if it's a JXXXX serial number, it was definitely a custom.

Yup, it's definitely a custom then. The pickups scream--the neck does a great Hendrix, that glassy Strat sound. Just gorgeous. And the bridge is full of mids, super growly. I didn't really like it when I got it, but I've really grown into the sound.

I love my guitar. It is kind of wrecked, though. The guy who had it before me got a bunch of dings and chips in it, and filled them with black nail polish. It still plays and sounds great, but if I leave it without waxing and polishing it for a while, it starts to look a little dingy.

Of course, that could be because it gets played every chance I get.

Excellent looking guitar!! The volume knob seems to be placed a lil further away from the bridge pickup than a regular soloist. Lot of people would like that.

Now, question. What would the stock pickup have been? I'm sure it's still the original in the neck, but the bridge has been switched out for a (somehow) F-spaced Gibson pickup.

It probably came with a Jackson pickup in it, right? The Gibson is not original--the pickup ring doesn't fit quite right--there used to be a bigger one there.

I really do wish Fender was releasing the build sheets on these. It'd make it a lot easier for me to see exactly what, if anything's, been done to it.

                          I'm pretty sure the trem -- A JT590, if I don't miss my guess--is stock as well.

I wonder what Mister Baker would have to say about that. haha.
