Most of my other Jacksons don't have the Dimarzios the PC-1 has but I actually do like the Super 3 and the singles in my Purple Daze PC-1. I don't plan on changing them, not even the middle pickup. The singles in it get some good Strat type tones and the Super 3 has the nice humbucker sound. Mine plays nice but I have to admit that on a dark stage playing it live its taking some getting used to that maple board with no inlays. Its not as easy I thought!

Yeah, I'm still playing it pretty often. It's a keeper since I went to all the trouble getting it right to begin with

Bengal, do you still have this one? I love the blue flames outlined in natural wood.

Once you play one, you can get past the headstock shape pretty easily.

Thanks for the info. I really don't know much about PC-1's, so that clears up a lot.

Maybe I will just lowball him and see if I can pick it up on the cheap.

Like I said, I love it, but hate the head stock.

That's a slightly abused 1998. Not Koa... Mahogany.
Also, they don't have truss rod covers. Looks like some idiot tried to adjust the truss rod without removing the Floyd string bar first.
I wouldn't pay more than $1,100 for it.

Another reason to get one, is being able to 'Blend' just the right amount
of sustain.. and feedback to whatever your playing.. so its subtle..
and not over the top. (sometimes over the top is great too!)
But that in itself, makes it unlike any other guitar out there..imo
Quality is top notch, and you should be able to score one for around
$2100 which makes it a bargain for what you get. Here WAS mine..
sold it to my Brother in Law...but im in his WILL !! :ROTF:

    Depends... what year is it.
    1996 or 1997.
The 96 had a more "strat" shaped headstock. Fender bitched and in 97, Jackson changed it to the version used up until 2005.
So if it's a first year (96) Koa PC1 in great condition, to the right person, it's probably worth close to $2k.
To the average Joe, it's not worth more than any other PC1.
A 97 Koa PC1 is still probably worth $1,500 to $1,700 if it's in great condition.

Thanks! I always suspected that might be Pau Ferro!

What is a PC-1 with a Koa body worth? I have a line on one, but I hate the "sears" headstock that is on it. I might consider picking it up to sell it if I could get a nice return on the investment.

I want a PC-1, but I want one with the strat head.

I have to agree with Bengal65 on this one. I dig the p/u config and I've yet to change the batteries in either of my PC-1 Stratheads.

I do agree... the HS2 middle pup is terribly thin and flat.
I never use it, so I could care less how it sounds. I think a PC1 without a middle pup would be the ideal setup for me.

I still dig the Super 3 though. I like a darker sounding pup, and the Super 3 fits the bill nicely.

Ummm...you essentially said the same thing I did - the pickups need to be swapped.

I love the Super3, it's one of my favorite bridge pickups. I agree that the HS2 middle PU is sort of lame, though. As a PU, the sustainer is so-so IMHO. Tone-wise - not great, but not bad either. But it more than makes up for that with the sustainer mode.

...Just goes to show you that pickup preferences are like a-holes: everyone's got one.

All other specs about the PC1 are top-notch, and many are unique.
