Isn't that urban camo not winter camo? Here's an urban camo DV8:

That's what Lee told me! Marty Bell does good work but just does refinishing, not any woodwork type stuff....

I always thought that was winter camo. I thought the urban camo was supposed to have blues and more greys in it. Maybe not?

Edit: I used to think the DV8 looked ugly, then I saw Mustaine's latest sig model!

How does the TOM bridge work with the elevation and the 24 frettage... Had any problems getting it to set up properly?

The TOM is the exact right height for a direct replacement for the Kahler. As for the location, the guy who originally modded it, had mounted the TOM bridge perpendicular to the strings. There was not enough adjustment in the saddles to intonate properly. I filled the one post hole, and remounted the bridge on an angle. It intonates perfectly now.

I'm probably going to do some very minor fret levelling/polishing. The action is already very low, but I think I can get it even lower with some work.

I'm not sure if I like the EMGs yet. I've only played it through my Blue Voodoo so far, and it sounds a little sterile. I'll have to hook up the AT-100 (the amp I actually gig with) and see how that goes. I'm betting it will sound far better.

I have also put the truss rod cover on now. It's a black anodized one from Dave (Budman), and it looks awesome. I'm going to have Dave make me a new electronics cavity cover, and some pickup rings. Then it will be perfect.

I've heard it referred to as either. I've also seen urban camo that is blue/black/grey/white.

Logically, it would be much more effective in a snowy landscape than an urban one, so I'll stick with calling it winter camo.

I remember when you first got it. Looks 100 times better now. I love urban camo on a guitar.

                    edit:

                    urban, winter, whatever.

I'd pretty much be spending between $4,000 and 6,000 to get a custom guitar like this from Jackson, Ran, Moser, Rico, etc..
I think you hit the nail right on the head here. You are so right. Basically, most custom shop guitars are just regular type bodies with an special paintjob and maybe special hardware. But you are just really paying for THEM to do it. Unless you are looking for some specially shaped body that's not "standard," the way you did it is the way to go. Awesome choice for a paintjob. It's got me thinking about that design now. That's basically why I've done some projects myself. I can not afford any kind of customized guitar so I became my own "custom shop." I buy a body I really like or wanted and get all the parts I lust for on a guitar and build it myself. I have been happy with my "customs" so far.

PS: really give those EMG's a chance to shine. I have them in my RR3 and it made it into a guitar I can't help smile about when I play it.

                        PPS: Very cool guitar!!!!

I've just started building another V, and I was trying to decide what I was going to do for the paint job. This gave me a ridiculous idea.

Imagine a camo pattern exactly like this one, but swap the colors like this:

                          white - black
                          grey - grey
                          black - slime green

I know, it sounds weird, but think about it. I'm going to do a mockup.
