He wants low end... a JB is high mids and treble. A Marshall is voiced more in the mids as well. I guess if you crank the bass on the amp and lower the mids and highs, you'll be fine. :ROTF:
The bass on my 2203 clone is set on 11, literally.

FWIW - I'm an EMG guy. Love them in just about any guitar. But in the brighter Alder guitars like my soloists, I love the SD JB. It just seems to complement those guitars better than my EMG's. Sounds more natural...to me.
Hmm, that's interesting, I was just thinking about throwing an EMG 85/85 into my RR1. Do you prefer the 81 or 85 in the neck?
In the alder guitar I prefer the 85 in the bridge. The 85 in the bridge really seems to even the guitars sound curve perfectly for my ears.
I have two mahogany guitars, one with an 81-60 set that compliments it very nicely, and the other has the 85/81 with the 85 in the bridge and I sometimes think it is too hot. I haven't had the inclination to switch yet, but it's due for strings soon and I figure I will see how it works with them swapped.
