  • Pickup Replacment

Hey this might have been asked before but I couldn't find it. A few months ago I tried to put EMG's in my KV2 but they didn't fit. Now I want to know if EMG's will fit in my new KV2T or will the hole be to small?

what part was too small? the rout for the actual pickup? that seems very odd, since there are plenty of KVs in the world with EMGs in there....

EMGs have bigger 'corners' than other pickups (i.e. they're more square) and if a guitar is routed for standard pickups, the EMG will foul the route at the said corners.

To be honest, on a standard guitar, I can't see a problem making the corners right angles rather than the standard curve. I've done it on at least one of my guitars...

          +1 on the Dremel.
Just widen the inside corners of the route up a bit and touch up with some black paint.
          Problem solved.

If you don't use a dremel and you get the pickups in they will never come out. :ROTF: I have a SD blackout that won't come out.

                      Common problem in metalworking.
Just gently heat up the interfering area with a...oh, wait.
                      Nevermind.

It's in the guitar from the previous buyer. I just tried to get it out to see what the pickup was and it would move. They even chipped the paint getting it in.

Nah, the ones I've done it too are older. Not SD, but still not 'recent'...

I had to use Dremel for 2 modern Soloists to get EMG´s in, it´s not a big deal.
