  • (pre-) Fender Jacksons

    Hey guys,
I already asked this question in another topic, but as it was a bit offtopic, no one answered it. So here i go again:
What are the pros and contras of pre-fender made Jacksons, compared to the new fender made ones.
I have a 2001 soloist, and thats the only USA Jackson ive ever played. So i was wondering how that the new Jacksons play. Very curious.

having both....there is NOTHING different about the guitars.
      GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

      and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

I've played older ones and I own two post-fender models and they're just as good!

It's all gone down the drain man.

Fender sacked the entire crew of hard rockers at Jackson, and picked a bunch of overweight hippies from their own factory to take their place. First change to the product line were the "slowhand" and "cripplefinger" neck profiles. Shortly after, Candy Ass Red and Smurf Green replaced cool finishes like Gun METAL Grey.

Next, Fender hired goons that went to Finland and stole the epic weapons of Alexi Laiho. Those were custom Jacksons, made in the days of glory, when METAL ruled the lands. When in panic Alexi called Jackson up to get replacements, they presented him with a custom Jackson Jazzmaster. Disgusted, Laiho left for ESP.

In order to appease the aggravated fan base, Fender hired a Mike Shannon lookalike (the TRUE fans know that the legend Mike Shannon died in Madagascar in 1999, under mysterious circumstances). For a while, it looked like Fender would revive the Jackson brand to its former glory, BUT:

Soon the mighty Duncan humbuckers were changed out in favor of traditional Fender pickups all across the product line. White 3-ply pickguards appeared where there used to be anodized METAL pickguards. Fender (damn them to HELL!) is on a mission to extinguish metal music, and it was with this goal in mind they bought out Jackson. All Rhoads guitars are now hollowbodies. It is no longer possible to play metal on a Jackson, and shred is out of the question completely.

I'm still waiting for those butterscotch Tele/Kellys with black single-ply pickguards

ok bane, i dont know if youre serious or just laughing with someone i dont know on this forum. But what does sacking some metalheads and replacing pickguards have to do with the actual quality of the guitar?

For the 1000th time, absolutely nothing.

There are great old ones and great new ones.

There are terrible old ones and terrible new ones.

                Choose wisely...

Check this out, a post Fender Jackson as described by Sunbane:

I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

                    I notice a difference.

I've had 90's USA jackson's, and have a new one. They feel very different to me.

I think it's the same guys that make them though, so there shouldn't be any difference.

I think that any differences can be chalked up to the inconsistencies of guitar manufacturer. You can buy multiple guitars of the same model, built the same year, that will have variations. We're talking about instruments made out of wood here, so environment alone can account for major differences.

We also replaced the OFR's with Bigsby's.

SUNBANE Please do a little research before you vent a blast of nonsense that isn't true. In all actuallity the staff building Jackson are all the original guys including Mike Shannon, Pablo Santana, and Grover Jackson himself. Unless someone is diguising themselves to look like them, then 2 weeks ago they were still there. As far as Alexi I am not sure where you made that one up but please for the sake spreading news, please don't make up things that are not true just to get attention.
