Congratulations, I know what it's like to get a Custom, good for you. Not to burst your bubble, but do people still play 7 strings these days? I thought that was so 90's...
"Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
Gotta get away from here.
Feelin' like I shoulda kept my feet on the ground
Waitin' for the sun to appear..."
Yeah bay-bay! Go with a natural top w/ black binding on the body and head. No need on the neck if you getting a 'dark' fretboard like rosewood or ebony.
Good luck and godspeed.

Dude! The kids now are playing 8-strings and some go for the weird scale fanned-fretboard. Crazy. The kids are tuning down to drop-z!

I actually like the look of the black binding on the limited RR24s.. but I don't think its quite worth the added expense. Even though the guitar is bloody pricey as is.

Man 7s are nothing, there are lots of guys getting into 8s. I like playing in E standard and B standard equally, so it makes sense to be able to play in both at the same time. Really gets along well with the kind of songs I write too.. I really am lost without a 7th string most of the time.
Matt told me Jackson is quoting 8-9 months build time. Yeah, right
Does Jackson factor around it sitting in a case 6 months to their build time? :ROTF: Seriously, I hope you get it in 6 months, as that would be killer.

I play a 8 now. Its Drop Eb, so below bass. It really gives you a nice chunky sound.
Gear:
Gibson SG (Stock)
Ibanez RG7321 loaded with Seymour Duncan Invaders
Charvel frankenstien guitar (not entirely sure what it is has a Charvel Logo)
Line 6 Pod Xt Live
Atomic Reactor 212 50 Watt
Groove Tubes
Dr Strings

I think in nu metal there should just be two guys playing bass one faster then the other of course(lets you know who would be playing guitar if it wasn't a 2 bass band), then have a leprechaun come out on stage to solo for 30 sec. a set all using only 3 notes.

Yes!!
(Didn't wanna have to do this, but...)
Congrats on the new custom by the way... enjoy the wait...
Did you realize that you ordered a 7-string version of the old-style PC "psuedo-strat" headstock, though? IIRC, that's what the "San Dimas Style" neck description means.

I put SLS headstock on there.. as far as I know, the San Dimas neck should be a neck profile more like my Charvel
