The JXXXX numbers are USA while the JXXXXXX ones (like this one) are MIJ. I told her that, but she was unimpressed.

USA production models are UO (since 1990), serials starting with J, JA and RR are custom. All these have 4 digits after the letters.

As Axewielder said, the MIJ/Pro neckthroughs have J + six digit serials.

Got it! Thanks Larry and levantin. BTW, what's the big idea serializing with J's. U, I can understand...for USA, but why J for guitars built in the USA?

Aren't the custom shop USA guitars built under J serial numbers?

I used "ask seller a question" and gave her the same info you guys did. Just put a little honey on it :-) She responded in kind and said that she changed the ebay listing, but I noticed the starting price hasn't changed. It's still a nice guitar, if it was a good deal...

Not the point. My Model 6 was around 1400 new. Picked it up for 450 on EBay. Wondering what the street value now of the KV is. Figure around 600.

                        It a rare guitar...

They could sell for what ever people are willing ot pay. I've seen them sell anywhere between $1200 and $2000 if they are in mint condition.

Nah, the Pros go for almost as much as the USAs. This one looks beat. Probably $800-900
