  • SL1 vs. SL2H ... I need some advice.

    Hi folks,

My next purchase will be a US Soloist. Preferably a CS if I can find one but there are some standard finishes I also could think of...

    But now to my question.

Scanning EBay there seems to be quite a lot of SL2H's on the market, but not that many SL1!? Why is that?
What's the pro's and con's with the models?
Personally I would like to have at least one guitar with single coil PU's...

Please share your opinions with me!!!

I may be wrong here, but isn't the only difference between the SL1 and SL2H the pickup config?

In my OPINION, I think the H-S-S is not that popular because people don't like the middle single - it gets in the way.

I think that's obvious - the SL2H has a neck hum, the SL1 has two singles. You decide which is a pro and which is a con.

        Then get the SL1.

Or, you can add a push/pull with an SL2H to coil tap the hums into a single...

But, that god damn middle pickup is right in my picking position.

                SL1 has 5 pickup selections and the SL2H has 3 I believe

I have that problem with my BC Rich ST-III. I have to keep the middle pup very low or it gets in my way. Sucks.

yea i agree, i like the 2 hums and if you tap them then you can have the best of both worlds.

Which layout do you prefer - HSS or HH? When you figure that out, decision made.

If the middle pickup is in the way of your picking position you're digging in to far.
