              Sweet!! That looks amazing.

What I want to know is why someone would have butchered a fine instrument like that in the first place. I can understand experimenting on a Hondo or something, but a SD Jackson????

It started out as a Charvel and ended up as a Jackson, right?

                Awesome work.
It was never a Charvel, just a decal-

It gives that appearance but it was originally a metallic snow white, then topcoated with a charcoal or black color, then top coated again with a very crappy white paint...just sad. I came REAL close to putting binding on the top (I love body binding on a tele) but then kept my head straight and restored it to how it was originally... lol!

who exactly did the paint ? i'm looking around for someone to paint a body or two for me, would like to know who has had good experiences with who.
                That would be Mark (mm2002)

Yep, that was a strat shaped body with a neckthrough strathead, correct? I believe Lynn Ellsworth is in a newspaper clipping holding the blank which is floating around somewhere here..lol! (Not the blank, the article lol!)

good question, I'm thinking 30 hours not including marks paint work. But I did this off and on so it's truly hard to say.

For those interested, I used GM code 10 white chromabase, and added a smidgen of course aluminum mixing base. And of course, several coats of urethane clear.
I will have to say, though, when Dave sent it to me I had never seen the "before" pics. He did a fantabulous job on the new binding and re-fret. It looked better than many factory jobs I've seen.
                Thanks so much, Mark..

Now that is one hell of a restoration indeed!

Dave, if you don't mind me asking, where did you find it originally?
It was actually on ebay for a grand or some such nonsense and it never sold so I talked him down quite a bit....

I actually would not like to know- lol!

Well, I did one for the forum awhile back that went into a lot more detail as can be found here:

Thanks, Peter, but I like to do this for fun, if it becomes a "must do" situation, there's no fun in it anymore..

                            Nice job!

Is the San Dimas one of those decals that were sold at best-decals.com? Or a NOS part from Jackson? Or something else?
