  • Question for the KV-2 players that play live

1st of all I'm a one knob, one switch charlie, I don't like a bunch of knobs, switches and blinking lights and shit all over my guitar!

All of my guitars have "The Davis Mod". Volume goes closest to the bridge, one 3 way switch, no tone pot and disconnect everything else.

I am so used to a 3 way toggle it isn't even funny anymore. This blade switch has got to go! Now I know why Phil changed his out on his PD-1 Proto custom.

Everytime when i'm playing and want to switch to the neck pup (while tap dancing with my pedals and headbanging) the floyd bar and 2nd volume knob are right in the way, I can't get to the switch fast and easy.

I'm seriously thinking of taking the 2nd knob out and blade out and installing a 3 way switch either in the 2nd knobs place or 3rd knobs place.

Have any of you guys done any mods like this and have the same trouble I am?

    Or maybe i'm

Other than this concern, my quicksilver v is owning very hard!

    HELP!

I took out the other two knobs on my KV-2 and KV-Pro. They *were* uncomfortably and weirdly close to the switch. You can find 3/8" hole plugs in the hardware section of Home Depot. Only black or white, though, so you'd have to paint them to match your finish before installing.
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

I play a KV2 live but dont worry about turning anything down.
        Metal all the way.

I'd sooner have one vol knob and a switch but what are you gonna do? (Apart from order a custom)
All men play on 10. Never gonna turn down again.

As you can see, it currently has a nerdy Radio Shack knob and a Tele switch tip. Just goofing around!

              wow...I just realized the kv2 has 3 knobs and a 3-way blade switch...WTF?

Too cramped for that guitar. The KV2T has the right thing going for it.

Yeah, I stumbled across them by accident and was like... "WHAT? Why doesn't Stew-Mac sell something like this???" Although they'd probably charge five bucks apiece.

Simple, volume for each pickup and a master tone control.
                    "Got a crazy feeling I don't understand,
                    Gotta get away from here.

Yeah that looks great. The caps dont stand out as much as they do on that EDS either. Good job.

I might have to do this with my Snakeskin. I'll be fucked if I'm painting snakeskin caps though. It will probably be easier to go out and find a matching snake.

I think EMG's look great in KV's but I'm loathe to take out those JB's.

                            Thanks guys.

The functionality of this guitar went from 25% to 100%. If it doesn't work it goes away. This guitar will be here a while for sure.

Plus it looks pretty snazzy as well. It's not all cluttered up down there now... it feel's like the first time you sha.... nevermind

So simple, and 100% reversible if need be. Like I said, they're also available in white, so that might be perfect for the Snakeskin finish.

And I was trying to make the caps noticeable on my EDS. It took a few shots to get the angle where they catch the flash just right, and then ran it through a Sharpen filter in Photoshop.
