The reason I was given was that since the guitars were no longer being sold by the original dealer (or a Jackson dealer at all at that point) the warranty was void. Some guitars with a "USED" stamp are actually acquired the same way, usually at auction. I wasn't totally convinced on that explanation myself, but at least you could probably track down a Jackson neckplate on eBay. Some of the USA Hamers have the serial number stamped into the back of the headstock, and they had been scratched/gouged out!
