I have a question. I've read on the forum that the CS prices has gone through the roof. How bad is it?

I've asked for a qoute on a Black SL1 fit with gold parts and PC1 controls and pickups. (Had a PC1, but didn't like the heavy body or the fact that it is a bolt on)

I haven't got a response from the store yet. What do you think it'll cost?

Neck-throughs have a different tone and feel. I would guess most of us like them for that reason.

To answer your question:

I think you would come out better if you bought a regular black SL1, a used PC1, and a set of gold hardware independently. Then swap out everything to have your own "Custom" SL1 and eBay everything else.

And how do you make the sustainer-board fit into an SL-1?
The route for the middle pickup has to be moved too...

Does anyone ever use the middle pickup? I didn't even realize they were in slightly different places since I ignore them completely!

I suspect you'll be pleasantly suprised by the response. But that all depends. I'm waiting for a price quote on a similar request of my own (slight changes to an existing USA model). We'll see what they say. Crossing my fingers.

Get a Shamray. Quicker build, and cheaper. They will make exact Jackson copies, aside from the logo.

Take a look at the electronics cavity on a PC1:

That qualifies as a "little bigger" to you? And an easy job handled by many people? Not to mention the additional route for the battery boxes (no, they won't fit in the electronics cavity on a sustainer-equipped guitar), and a half-assed "route and fill" job will be required to move the middle pickup far enough away from the sustainer. Oh, and then he'll have to refin the whole guitar to cover up all the mod routes work. Uh, no thanks.

I want the jackson standard neck, and I prefer a neckthrough over a bolt on when I play high on the neck. When Phil made the PC1, it is obvious that he was thinking TONE! I loved the sustainer, but want a little more access.
